8. ‘Frew aim to bounce back against Stenn

May 26 2012 by Paul Behan, Paisley Daily Express

RENFREW Cricket Club captain Sajid Majeed believes his side’s recent record against Stenhousemuir will stand them in good stead this afternoon.
Majeed’s side take on “Stenny” at KGV with 10 precious CSL Western First Division points up for grabs. Renfrew are hoping to get over the disappointment of their Renfrewshire derby defeat to Ferguslie at Meikleriggs a week ago. The KGV outfit lost to their league rivals by three wickets. But they aim to get back to winning ways today with a good performance and victory against the league’s bottom side.

Majeed said: “We’re looking forward to the game.“We played them in a pre-season friendly and beat them comfortably, so if we can play like that again, then we’ll be confident of getting the win we need. “Our recent record against Stenhousemuir is pretty good and obviously we’ll look to continue that.” Majeed reckons ’Frew could have been aiming for their second consecutive win today – had they got the breaks they needed last weekend against ’Lie. He said: “It was a very close game but we just didn’t get the breaks on the day. “Having said that, there are a lot of positives to take from the game. “We take those positives and we’ll try to bring them to the Stenny game. “But we know it won’t be easy, the same as any other game in this division. “All teams have strengthened over the close season and clubs are very evenly matched now. “As long as we tighten things up a bit I’m confident we can get the win we need.” Allrounder Imran Adrees will be back available for selection today in what is an undoubted boost to the home side.

Today’s game takes place at KGV playing fields and the match starts at noon.
