Retford FC v Brigg Town
Saturday 10th August 2019
NCEL Division One
Kick Off: 3.00pm
Retford FC embark on their first home game in the NCEL as they welcome Brigg Town on Saturday afternoon to the Rail Ground.
Both clubs started the season with opening day wins, a Shay Evans-Booth goal for Retford earned three points at Rossington Main, whilst Brigg Town were 6-2 winners at home to East Hull at the weekend, putting them in second place in the league.
The Zebras have a long and successful history rising to the Northern Premier League, and have a lot of experience in the NCEL over the years, with a one season break last season when they played in the Lincolnshire League. They are also two time winners of the FA Vase.
Last weeks result against Rossington Main was the perfect start to the season, Manager Chris Woodhead said "Last week was a workmanlike performance. Our defending was very good." He continued, "It wasn't a spectacular game but we did enough to get the three points."
Looking ahead to the match tomorrow, he said "I'm looking forward to having NCEL football at the Rail, and tomorrow we welcome a Brigg side who have started with a big victory last week. It will be a very very tough game but hopefully we can put in a good performance and who knows?...."
"My lads will give it their all as they always do, they will be set up with our game plan and hopefully we get a result."
The game also marks 50th appearances for both Adam Scott and Oli Bilham tomorrow.
