Retford FC have packed their buckets and spades, and Chris Woodhead has his knotted hanky on his head as the Choughs make the trip to the seaside this weekend to face table toppers Skegness Town.
Third placed Retford will be looking to get back to winning ways on their travels after three consecutive draws on their travels, (North Ferriby, Worsbrough Bridge and Armthorpe Welfare), it will be a tough ask with Skegness only losing only one at home, scoring 15 goals and only conceding 2 at the Vertigo Stadium.
Manager Chris Woodhead has a selection headache with Graeme Severn missing out due to suspension, so his squad may have to be juggled in preparation for the match. He said " Well it’s a game that we are looking forward to as we are going up against currently the best team in the league. I’ve said it a lot and yes again we are going to be the underdogs as Skegness are financially in a strong position attracting some very good players at this level. However I believe in our players, they will be competitive and work hard. We lose Grezza for the game but this gives others in the squad a chance to prove themselves."
Skegness have had a great start to the season, only one defeat in the league against Winterton Rangers (0-1) and only one draw, coming on the opening day of the season against Selby Town (1-1).
With a prolific strike force, including ex Chough Leigh Hutchinson, and a mean defence, (the side have a +20 goal difference) it's going to be an entertaining game of football by the sea.
