Welsh National League Division 1

Rhos had another away game against a determined and battling Brynford side. Rhos had beaten their opponents earlier in the season and Brynford were seeking revenge. Rhos started brightly and were playing the ball well to each other, creating space and some opportunities. The breakthrough came in the 10th minute when Josh Griffiths crossed the ball into the six yard box for Josh Jones to tap it home 1-0.
Brynford reacted positively and nearly scored when the ball landed to their centre midfielder at the edge of the box, he smashed the ball with venom, only for stand in goalkeeper Huw Rowlands to get a hand to the ball for it to deflect onto the bar. James Haynes had a good opportunity to make it 2-0 but his shot went agonisingly over. Neither keeper had much to do in the first half with much of the game being played in midfield. HT 1-0
Rhos scored soon after the restart, when Tom Davies headed from a corner, which was cleared off the line, but the clearance hit Dan Nash and diverted back into goal. 2-0.
Rhos were in total control of the game, playing excellent football and defending well, with Daf Robertson especially taking care of Brynford's main threat in the centre of the park. Brynford did score from their 1st opportunity of the second half, when their winger crossed the ball in for the striker to smash home. With 15 minutes remaining, Rhos could have got nervy, but every player stood firm and worked hard for each other.
The game was settled with 10 minutes remaining when Ieuan and Greenway played a one-two with each other and Greenway placing his shot right into the corner of the goal, leaving the keeper no chance. FT 3-1.
This was always going to be a tricky game with many opponents coming away from Brynford with no points. Credit to the players for working hard and ensuring they achieved the three points needed.
Rhos now face a huge game v Cefn on Tuesday night at the Ponciau which promises to be an entertaining game.
