Rhos Aelwyd 1 - 2 Castell Alun

The first ten minutes of the game had cost us the game as Rhos found themselves 2-0 down this was due to not tracking back or not marking their man. Rhos were to have more bad news with captain Josh Griffiths coming off with an injury. The Rhos management shuffled things around and from then on, Rhos looked more comfortable and were now the better team.
They were attacking a Castell Alun with pace and players were brought down again and again but couldn't make the set pieces count. Jason Holmes had a great chance when he was one on one with the keeper after an error by their centre half. Jason's shot unfortunately hit the post, Scott Reeves collected the rebound and opted to square the ball instead of shooting and Castell Alun's defender was able to clear HT 2-0.
The second half was all one way with Castell Alun sitting deeper and deeper as the game went on to protect their lead. It was smart play by Adam Griffiths who neatly laid the ball to 16 year-old Jack White to score exquisitely. 2-1.
The pressure was being piled on and from a Scott Reeves header the keeper made a fantastic save when it looked destined for the back of the net. With Rhos attacking, Castell Alun did counter and when they got in the box Ryan Jenkins was adjudged to have brought the striker down. Jason Wynn in goal ensured that justice was done when he saved the tame penalty.
Rhos did throw everything in and should have got something out of the game but it was not be. We must dust this game off and concentrate on our next game against New Brighton at the Ponciau Banks. We must stay positive and turn things around as the ability and effort is there. I'm sure it is only a matter of time.
