Our final game of the season and more importantly our last game in Division One until we embark on our challenge in the Welsh National Premier Division next season. In a dead rubber, Rhos went into the game with 6 players missing due to injury, work commitments and holidays. It was Rhos who were the better team for the first 10 minutes of the game where they were picking out their passes and the quick movement were causing Mynydd Isa problems but still not really testing the keeper out. After that 10 minute spell, the hosts took control of the game and deservedly took the lead after a cross from their striker found his strike partner to tap the ball home. To add to Rhos' woes both Dafydd Robertson and James Haynes had to be substituted due to injuries, you could sense it wasn't going to be our day. HT 1-0
The second half saw Mynydd Isa continue to control the game and after Rhos were unable to clear the ball from their box on more than one occasion, the hosts took advantage and their player smashed the ball home.2-0
The bad news wasn't to stop there, when the Mynydd Isa substitute went past the Rhos defender and from a tight angle powered the ball into the opposite corner. 3-0
Josh Jones had a good opportunity at the end of the game for a consolation goal only for their keeper to make a point blank save and keep a clean sheet.
No arguments with the result today, Mynydd Isa deservedly won the game. It was disappointing to lose our final match of the season but overall what a season! Promotion achieved, League cup winners and against all the odds, FAW Welsh Trophy finalists. The squad should be very proud of their achievements this season, they're a tight knit group who work hard for each other and deserve all the success they have achieved this season. All that are involved with the club are now looking forward to making an impression in the Premier Division and with the players at the club I see no reason why they can't hold their own.
Thank you for a tremendous season!
