Rhos Aelwyd 4 Castell Alun Colts 2

After 4 weeks of no games, eventually we were able to play a game and allow players to run off their Christmas food!
As expected , both teams were a bit rusty in the first 10 minutes but Rhos did get a foothold of the game and played some really good football. The first goal came from a pin point pass from Daf Robertson to Ieuan Jones who supplied a cross which Josh Griffiths chested down and the lobbed the keeper. A well taken goal.
Castell Alun are a team that never give up and were back in the game from a corner when their captain headed home from 10 yards. 1-1.
Both teams did have chances to go ahead, with Rhos having the better of them but failed to convert them, until Josh Jones hit home after a save from the Castell Alun keeper. HT 2-1.
Castell Alun made it 2-2 when there was a mix up in the box for the striker to hit home 2-2.
This spurred Rhos on and within seconds of coming off the bench, James Haynes slotted home past the advancing keeper. 3-2. Rhos needed a 4th goal to ensure their passage into the next round and it came from Daf Robertson with a thunderbolt form 20 yards into the top corner. FT 4-2.
To consider that Rhos hadn't played a competitive game in a long time, it was a pleasing performance and the football was excellent at times on a soggy pitch.
