Rhostyllen had a break from League action when they entertained their last opponents in the League Cup Quarter finals at home. There was a real danger that the game was going to be called off due to the amount of water on the pitch but after working on the pitch from 9:30 right up until kick off the game the ref allowed the game to start.
Rhostyllen started the game brightly and deservedly took the lead when a corner wasn't dealt with by the Away team was put back into the box by Drew Wickens and nodded into the net by Rob Gibson.
New Brighton equalized when the forward sprung the offside line and slotted home. Rhostyllen were then reduced to 10 men when Drew Wickens was given a second yellow card.
The village started the 2nd half well with 10 men and created chances. They got what proved to be the winner on 60 minutes when Ash Ryan found the bottom corner from just inside the box.
A great battling performance with 10 men saw the village progress!!
