Having gained just 2 points from 5 games, and narrowly missing out on 3 points in previous games, we were determined to get back to winning ways.
Once the game got going, it was clear we were here to win. We started off dominating possession with some great passes across the pitch. Berko got a few break aways but our defence had it covered. Mid way through the first half, a short corner converted by Kate put us 1 up.
Having regularly relaxed after going 1 up, we didn't want to do this today as we needed the win. We pressed even more and some great forward play saw Tess hit the back board, taking us to 2-0 at half time.
The 2nd half started and Berko came out stronger as they weren't going down without a fight. They had some solid play down the right and had a player ready and waiting in the D to take the score to 2-1. However, this didn't stop us as after a bit of a scrap in the D, Emily took us to 3-1.
We had a slight obstacle at this point as the hail decided to join the game, and combined with the wind it resulted in us all running off the pitch for shelter after some painful blows of hail to the legs and arms. The hail covered the whole pitch but both teams wanted to finish the game so after a few minutes of shelter we got back out there.
It's fair to say the hail changed the pace and flow of the game but Ricky had one goal left in them. A great ball up the line from Laura saw Lauren chase it up and put the pressure on the keeper, giving a little pass to Tess who was there to take us to 4-1 to end the game.
The Ladies 1s gave their best performance of the season and player went to Jess who had her best game down the right and donkey to Kate for forgetting her shinpads and having to borrow from B (even though they were in my bag the whole time...)
