RIVERSIDE 3 vs RBO Greenwich 1
Our first, post lockdown game was a stroll, if Carlsberg did sides to play after lockdown , then they were it. Having done numerous rain dances due to moans about a dry pitch, the good lord duly obliged. We set up in our traditional 4-4-2 , with Hugo Loris getting a rare start on the left. The best opportunities fell our way but we were left rueing failed attempts on goal. A somewhat fortuitous goal gave us the lead bouncing off the back of Bash and into the net, fully deserved on the balance of play. The best they could offer was the odd corner which provided a pick-your-jaw-up moment. A whipped in cross was deftly dispatched by our resident right back. At the other end a header like that is a thing of beauty, at our end..... not so much. Worry ? Wobble ? No, just a mishap and we brushed it off as a blip. I’d asked for 3 before half time, Bash restored our lead for 2-1 before the break with a well taken stroke into the top left.
Half time is always difficult, because everyone had played well, tough decisions brought on Danny, Saul and our debutant Darren All of which gave a great contribution to the game.
Darren capped his debut with a goal for 3-1, ( all downhill from here, literally) . Probably should of punished this side by more but overall a good performance, well done fellas.
