Charlton Rangers 3 vs Riverside 3

At last some stiff opposition to play against. Although their squad was depleted it was still a decent collection of players. We started the game well , Kris Ruffell with the opener. A contentious offside went in our favour for the second given by their lino . Neatly tucked home by Stu the noo. A third beckoned and sadly for being half a yard offside, Ross Basham would’ve joined the party. An unfortunate slip by our ever reliable centre half let in Charlton to open their account. What followed was a kick in the teeth… some days you get away with clearing across your box, this was not one. Charlton were level.
Halftime saw the usual changes and Charlton pressed with a succession of corners and free kicks into our box. All dealt with by the Wanderers. We looked dangerous on the break and got our noses in front courtesy Basher. A lovely ball into the box nodded home. The sun was beating down but Charlton kept coming, in fairness they battled all afternoon. A deep cross found their winger sniffing around the back post. A simple tap in was all that was required. We pressed for the winner, unfortunately it was not to be. This was the right result on the balance of play and a great game to watch, both sides competing for everything.
Our faces said it all, we had not lost but felt we could’ve and possibly should’ve won. We learnt more from this game than the last 3 or 4 we’ve played. So if we can learn and improve on our game we’ll kick on.
Well done to all involved, still unbeaten.
