Our Chairman Stuart Nutley reviews 2016 and sets the scene for 2017

From a cold January when someone decided it would be good to start pre -season training, to a cold October when we ended on a high with the Junior Halloween party, 2016 has been a good year for the Cobras.

Our first job as a club was to all get together and decide what we wanted for the upcoming season, we wanted to get as many people we could playing rugby league, be it minis ,kids and adults alike. Going into 2016 we would be running an under 9s team an Open Age team and a few under 5s who are the start of our minis.

The Open Age had been table toppers for the majority of this season with some great rugby played against some strong teams, apart from a lull in the middle of the season due to injuries, to finish 2nd in the table and make it to the promotion final last week in Widnes is a testament to James Tilley and his assistants Dave Ramsbottom and Jamie Lawlor, their hard work and commitment paying dividends with both the fitness and the gameplay of the team.

The Under 9s have had a great season in their first competitive league fixtures. Under the leadership of David Lawlor and the assistance of Christopher Lynch and Thomas Michael Lawlor, these kids have grown as a team and will remain to grow under the guidance of their coaching team.

I will also extend a great thank you to all the supporters that have been there home and away for both teams, to all the members that have put the hours in over the season and all the Committee members that have done an incredible job in the running of the club.

A club like Rochdale Cobras ARLFC couldn't run without the financial help from our sponsors. Huge thanks to:
Benjamin Boothman of Quirky Catering Company
Mark Harris of AAA Pest Control
Paul Cockcroft and Jane Cockcroft of Tree Heroes
Sarah Boothman and Patricia Boothman of The Flying Horse Hotel
Viridor
Groundwork Landscapes
RKT trust
Mark Wynn and Rochdale Hornets for all their help.
And all the other individuals that have put money into the running of the club.
We hope you will all carry on your support for the 2017 season, and look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.

We do currently have vacancies on our hard working Committee for like minded Volunteers and will publish the dates for the AGM as soon as they are finalised. We are also particularly interested in suitably qualified coaches for the junior section, which is starting to grow.

Many thanks
Stuart Nutley
Chairman
Rochdale Cobras ARLFC
