Roman Glass St George made it back to league wins with a composed 3–1 victory away at Pershore Town — coming from behind to secure all three points in a lively Hellenic League encounter.
The hosts started strongly, striking the crossbar twice and forcing Rob Brown into an excellent one-handed save inside the opening twenty minutes. The Glass were slow to settle but showed resilience at the back, with Matt Spiller and Keith Kearney marshalling the defence.
Pershore’s pressure eventually told on 38 minutes when a well-worked move sent their forward through on goal to finish neatly past Brown.
However, just when it looked like Pershore would take a lead into half time, the Glass hit back. Deep into added time, a goalmouth scramble from a corner saw Laurent Davis-Wilson brought down inside the area. The winger dusted himself off and confidently buried the resulting penalty to level things at 1–1 before the break.
The second half saw a much-improved Roman Glass performance. The midfield pairing of Joe Budd and Charlie Boorman began to dictate the tempo, while Davis-Wilson and Dan Stoneman continued to cause problems down the flanks.
The comeback was completed on the hour mark when the Glass were awarded a second penalty — again converted coolly by Davis-Wilson, who sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2–1.
As Pershore pushed forward late on in search of an equaliser, the Glass made sure of the points. A quickly taken free kick found Stoneman in space — his initial shot was well saved, but the winger reacted quickest to nod home the rebound and seal the win.
It was a gritty and determined away performance from the Glass, who showed character and composure to come from behind and claim a deserved three points.
