The game between high flying Grimsby Borough (2nd) and mid table Rossington Main (12th) see’s Grimsby in fine goalscoring form with 9 goals and 3 wins from their last 3 games in league and cup. Daniel Trott has been amongst the goals scoring 3 in Grimsby’s last two league games.
Rossington Main continue to struggle at home in their last two home games with a last minute 1-0 loss to Nostell Miners Welfare and a last minute equaliser from new signing Jordan Buckham to earn a draw at home to Glasshoughton Welfare. The blues travels have been much happier with a 2-1 away win against AFC Emley with ye old faithful goal machine Lee Holmes scoring and Jordan Buckham scoring from the halfway line writes Russell Sheppard.

Ryan Hindley after the draw with Glasshoughton “So I go away tonight disappointed not to get three points and I think anybody in the stadium would say that’s our best performance of the season. They would say we should have won it comfortably. We haven’t. We’ve got a point and we move on. We’ve got a massive game at Grimsby, which should be really, really tough but we’ll work to those levels, a bit more luck in front of goal and we’ll not be far wrong.

“Credit to the players today. I thought my midfield two in Harry [Bamforth] and Harley [Wilson] were outstanding but I thought Sam Caygill was just out of this world. A young lad learning his craft, playing at right back when he’s a centre midfielder and looking like the best right back in this league and the league above. That’s a big statement but it looks like he’s played there all his life. His endeavour – he wants to be at this football club, he loves this football club – I wish I could have just injected some of his pace into his brother the last ten, fifteen minutes.

“But again, they’re hurting in there. They feel like they’ve lost but that’s how I want them to feel. We’ll be in next week and we’ll be working hard to go and go and get something at Grimsby. But tonight I’m delighted with their performance and I’ve just told Glasshoughton, “Put your lottery numbers on tonight!” because how they’ve got a point out of that I’ll never know. How there’s only four minutes added on when I thought it could have been 44 minutes added on because they just time wasted from scoring their goal. But credit to them. Some good lads, Glasshoughton, and they’re big and they’re solid.

“We move on. We draw a line under it and we kick on. I’m excited! You don’t usually get me to say that but I’m excited if people can keep producing those levels. Frustrating again with silly bookings but, again, two of our bookings shouldn’t be bookings. Our player gets pushed in the back of the neck when he’s scored to try and get the ball and then finishes off getting booked. Decent refereeing performance, I don’t mind that. People talk to you and I can live with that.

“But credit to my boys today. Absolutely brilliant and hopefully they’ll continue at those levels.”

Daniel Barrett Grimsby Borough manager “All the games are interesting now as every week there seems to be a upset.
I will be interested to see how much rosso have improved since we last played them and Ryan has had chance to make a difference.
Rosso are always a hard team to break down and it is always a hard game.
If we play like we did 2nd half last week we will have no issues”.
