RHC has several school events coming up over the next few months. I’m appealing for help for three of them in particular. Please help if you can. These would be ideal for one or more of our junior coaches to gain further experience if their own school commitments allow.
The first of which will be at Brinsworth Manor Junior Mixed School on the 13th June.
The background details are as follows:
Ahead of the event, school students (ages 8-11) will select five sports from a variety of around 15 options that they'd like to experience. RHC proposes to attend and has been requested to deliver a 45-minute taster session of field hockey. The delivery will be on tarmacked surface which is not ideal in shape or size but is adequate for our needs. Each session would be repeated with different groups of approximately 20 children. RHC has a great opportunity to promote ourselves throughout the day and hopefully get as many children as possible to sign up to our club. This is a fantastic chance to showcase what RHC has to offer and provide the next generation of hockey players coming to the club!
The Proposed Schedule
*9:00 - 9:45 | Session 1
*9:45 - 10:30 | Session 2
*10:30 - 10:45 | Break
*11:00 - 11:45 | Session 3
*12:00 - 13:00 | Lunch
*13:15 - 14:00 | Session 4
*14:00 - 14:45 | Session 5
The second event is the Rotherham School Games Festival of Sport as detailed below.

We will be delivering the same 30 minute session to ten different groups.
Refreshments: It is highly likely that refreshments will be available including teas, coffees, cold drinks and snacks. This is to be confirmed.
Parking and access: There is ample parking at Herringthorpe Stadium - please ensure you are accessing the car park on Middle Lane.
First Aid: Due to the size of the event, there will be an external provider on site throughout the day to assist with any medical issues.
This event is very demanding and requires a full day’s attendance. Katie, Archie and David W helped last year. Without their help, we would not have been able to cover this worthwhile event. Some 300 pupils attending provides the club with a wonderful opportunity to possibly recruit a few younger players.
Our third event is much later in the year and requires our presence at the Rotherham Show held in Clifton Park. This again is a wonderful opportunity for our club to recruit further players. We had a very successful, if exhausting day last year, but it was worth it! Our area was always active! This event is due to take place on Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th September, 2025. We only attend on the Saturday. Details have not yet been provided. As soon as I have them, they will be posted.
This is a major appeal for help to enable RHC to attend/operate at these events. All participation is on a voluntary basis to help our club. Please consider helping if you can. Do contact me if you are able/willing to help.
Many thanks.
