Dear colleagues, members, volunteers and friends of Rotherham Hockey Club.

First and foremost I hope you, your family and friends are well during this extremely difficult period. We are in the midst of uncharted times and I wanted to update you on Rotherham Hockey Club's response to Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

You are already aware that we have now suspended all hockey activity until further notice. We felt this was the best course of action as it gives players and volunteers clarity regarding the next few weeks and months. Having made this decision, we now have more to work through with regards how best to complete a number of our club responsibilities.

With regards to next season, obviously the situation is still unclear and will not be resolved for some time. We will continue to review options as things progress if we feel next season will be affected by Covid-19, and there may need to be alternative ways of playing. These are extraordinary circumstances for all of us and your understanding is appreciated. We have to follow government regulations as well as the directives supplied by our governing sport body and as the government has now extended the lockdown for at least another 3 weeks, this causes conflict with our Constitution.

As you know we have had to postpone the Rotherham Hockey Club AGM. Our new Constitution stipulates the following:

Section 3.1

"There shall be an Annual General Meeting of the Club, which shall be held each year within one calendar month of the end of the Club's financial year. Under extenuating circumstance, the AGM must be held within a further calendar month. Failure to hold an AGM within the two month period will result in the Club Officers being removed from office and an interim committee of three senior members of the club, appointed by the President to oversee an AGM at the earliest opportunity".

Our financial year end is 30th April, 2020. Considering all that is ongoing at the moment, it is hoped you will understand why the present Management Committee are unable to fulfil the Section 3.1 regulation. As I am sure you are well aware, any such meetings are currently banned by the Government, let alone the fact that no venue is available.

Your Management Committee thanks you for your understanding and patience during these surreal times.

Keep safe and keep well.
