Rotherham girls got off to a very slow start at windy Darton High School on Sunday morning.

With one team pulling out of the session Rotherham were already guaranteed to take 3 points home with them, however, tough games faced them in Ben Rhydding and City of York B.

Rotherham took on Ben Rhydding in the first game, two halves of 15 minutes proved difficult for Rotherham as it was evident they had turned up in dribs and drabs, without completing a thorough warm up. Ben Rhydding took an early lead within the first minute and continued to attack the Rotherham D for the remainder of the first half. After a basic half time talk Rotherham performed better in the second period but never looked like scoring as the strong and resilient Ben Rhydding defence stayed strong.

After a games break Rotherham were back out against City of York B, the game got off to a much better start and Rotherham penetrated the York D on a number of occasions. Just 2 minutes in Lucy Cooke netted Rotherham’s first, with her assisting the next two goals, scored in the same fashion Cooke crossed the ball to the back post were Bethany Roper was waiting to slip the ball over the line.
After the half time break Rotherham produced much of the same Hockey with Roper netting her hat-trick and Cooke scoring her second of the morning.

After a disappointing start the girls finished the morning off well and took home 6points (3 from the no show).
