We’re delighted to announce Arslan Tariq as first team captain for the 2023 season.
Arslan returns to the club following spells with Caribbean and Oughtibridge and has already begun putting his team together for the season’s opening fixture away at Coal Aston on Saturday, April 15.
In his first spell with Town, Arslan was a key man in the second team between 2017 and 2019 and played a vital role with an unbeaten knock of 80 as we won the Billy Oates Memorial Cup final in 2018.
Arslan also topped the Yorkshire Southern Cricket Premier League rankings for most wickets across all divisions in 2021 with 65.
He said: “I’m really excited about returning to Rotherham Town. The club is in a strong position off the field and I’m very pleased with the lads who have already committed to us.
“We want Clifton Lane to be the place where the best cricketers in the town want to play and I’m looking forward to leading the team this season.”
Club chairman Tim Staveley added: “Arslan was a very popular player during his first spell with us and as a cricket committee he was a unanimous choice to bring back to the club.
“Working with Arslan we will put a plan in place to put together strong senior teams which our junior players can aspire to be part of.”
