Match Report:
Goals - Phillip Cope & Will Cowley
MOTM - Tom Johnson

First game of the season presented an interesting fixture between two teams who were once again back in Division 1. Both teams started enthusiastically with possession exchanged regularly. Thornaby Park struck first early to take the lead 1-0. This did not seem to concern the Lions who replied straight away when a through ball put Phillip Cope one on one with the keeper and he expertly lifted it over him into an empty net 1-1. Overall a close, entertaining first half ended with Thornaby park taking the lead again 2-1.

The second half presented an opportunity to push for victory. There were times when the Lions played some good football and had chances. The pick of the second half was a turn and powerful strike from Will Colwey on the edge of the box to the bottom right corner. However, this goal was not enough to address the issue of Thornaby Park scoring 5 second half goals. There was great effort and commitment from the 12 lions who played but sadly chances missed and individual errors cost them the match.
