RTW Masters SC win the Kent Masters Championships for the sixth consecutive year by a handsome 200 point margin. Report by Anna Verdon.

RTW MASTERS won the Kent County Masters Swimming Championships at the Medway Park pool in Gillingham once again.
This is the sixth consecutive year the club has taken home the trophy and on Sunday the team did not let themselves down.
The 28-strong team, coached by Ted Valder, brought home a total of 50 gold, 35 silver and 21 bronze medals.
The first race was the 100m butterfly, traditionally the least popular of the day. Eleven of the team took up the challenge, with Shauna King, 55, Teresa Stringer, 61, and James Stewart, 71, all securing the gold in this event. Shauna and Teresa both produced event best performances (EBP) and Shauna even managed to knock 17 seconds off her personal best with a time of 1.59.98.
Simon Horler also swam the race and set a personal best time of 1.12.00.
Next up was the 100m breaststroke which the team also did well in coming away with six golds won by Del Jenkins, 48, Emily King, 28, Clare Finbow, 44, Barbara Wiles, 55, Ian Butler, 42 and James Stewart.
Barbara set an EBP with a time of 1.45.34 and Ian also set a personal best with a time of 1.20.21.
Barbara also smashed her times in several other events setting a personal best in the 100m freestyle with 1.22.72 and setting an EMP with a time of 1.43.30 in 100m backstroke.
Another swimmer who performed extremely well was Brian Hunt, 65. He achieved four EBPs in the 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m backstroke and 100m IM with a personal best time in 50m backstroke with 34.22.
Alice Houghton-Rose, 34, set a PB in the women’s 1oom IM with a time of 1.25.83 and Rob Dickson, 29, set a PB in his 50m freestyle with 28.75 and Tim Price, 38, also achieved his best time in the 50m breastroke with 41.03.
Niels Rasmussen achieved his best times in the 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke and as well as her butterfly event Shauna also achieved PBs in the 50m backstoke, 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke gaining two golds and a silver.
Anna Verdon, 24, Justyn Larcombe, 45, Sam Birkby, 32, and Adam Hardy, 32, who are new to the club also swam excellently and brought home 11 medals between them.
Justyn also swam in the Men’s 200 100m Freestyle relay and Men’s 200 Medley team which both placed first place along with team mates Adrian Pinnington, 52, Jonathan Exall, 55 and Brian.
The relay teams were very successful with both the 200+ freestyle men’s and women’s teams and 160+ men’s and women’s teams coming first. But the 120+ teams were just pipped to the post by Erith, the woman by 0.9seconds and the men by 0.6 seconds.
Overall it was a great day and RTW Masters were already leading the way by the end of the first half, but when they day came to a close they finished the event with 609 points and were seriously far ahead of their nearest rivals Erith and District who came second with 405.
