History

Football in Ruthin dates back to 1880 when they reached the final of the Welsh Cup, only to lose 2-1 to Druids. However the present club was founded as recently as 1951.

Honours include winning the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1967 and 1973. Ruthin have played much of their football in the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) as indeed their reserves do still. In 1979 the club began to climb towards their present position by winning the Third Division and the following year completed the double of winning the Second Division and winning the League Cup. Ruthin were promoted to the Cymru Alliance in 1991-92 after finishing runners up in the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) and winning the Premier Division Cup the same year.

Ever presents since, the club are one of the league's longest serving members.
The third place achieved in 2003 and 2004 represents the best to date and vindicates the club's youth policy.

We will continue to utilise our youth system in the future.
