Ruthin Town Football Club are delighted to be able to announce a major change in the club for the 2016-2017 season. A Development Squad is being selected to represent the club in the Wrexham area Reserves/Colts league. An experienced management team has been assembled to ensure the highest quality of coaching and support is given to develop and improve young players in the Vale. Headed up by Mike Mills and supported by Ian Reay the they bring decades of football knowledge and coaching experience with them. Mike Mills who played at high level for many years winning countless honours also brings with him a FA level 1 club coaching Award, he worked as Community Engagement Officer for “Everton in The Community”, the award winning Charity of Everton Football Club whose aim is to use the power of sport to motivate, educate and inspire people in the local communities to improve their life chances. Ian Reay likewise brings with him a wealth of Semi-pro playing experience and his FAW ‘C’ Certificate coaching award will rapidly accelerate the squads learning of the skills and tactics of the game. Both Mike and Ian have previously coached various age groups in Ruthin Town’s Youth system and have a good knowledge of local football and are looking forward to integrating youth and experienced players into the new Development team.
The Aims of the project are:
1. Development of future 1st team Players for Ruthin Town (we will encourage more experienced players to be a big part of this process)
2. Development of a Squad of Players that can compete and challenge for honours within the Colts League
3. Provide pre-season and weekly structured training sessions throughout the season by committed experienced qualified coaches
4. Selection of a squad of players from those individuals who express an interest to represent Ruthin Town FC and who attend pre-season training/matches.
