Walden put on the style to stay top of the table.

Walden scored 13 unanswered tries to stay top of the table going into the Christmas break.
The writing was on the wall as Walden scored in the very first minute as Walden's pace showed and centre Mark Kimberley was on the receiving end of the final pass to put Walden 7 nil up as full back Tom Price converted.
Further tries in the next 15 minutes by fellow centre Mich Clare, left winger Ben Nash and fly half Tom Hughes jinking through the Basildon defence secured the Bonus Point.
Then the forwards got in on the act as 2nd Row and Captain James Gosden found himself on the wing to score on the 19 minute mark and then flanker Matt Holden burst through some tackles to go under the posts Walden were 38 points up with only a quarter of the game played.
Right Winger Adam Miles was the next to score as he cut inside to wrong foot the defence and sped over for his first and Walden's 7th. Full back Tom Price was next to get over the try line then Ben Nash got his second as Walden raced away.
The Coaching team made some changes but the scoring spree did not end as Adam Miles found himself on the end of a couple of great passes to score two more tries to get his first half hat trick. Hughes took these conversions as Sub Ross Ferguson had come on for regular kicker Price at full back.
Walden went in at half time 73 points up in what can only be described as the perfect half . It was breathtaking running rugby with everyone contributing from 1 to 18.
It was no surprise that this level could not be maintained after the break as naturally the game was already won and Basildon to their credit regrouped and were much more organised in defence.
Walden still had all the chances in the second half but the tries just did not come in such free flowing manner as either the last pass went astray or the players having such a dominant first half dropped off the intensity.
However after 15 minutes which were nearly all spent camped inside the visitors 22 Basildon had to give away one to many penalties for slowing the ball down as Walden repeatedly attacked their try line and they had a player sin binned for 10 mins.
Walden called for a scrum which had already been dominant and as they pushed the visitors over, No 8 Nik Baker controlled the ball at the back as they edged forward to score. This is the foundation of Walden's recent run of form as the pack often lighter than their opponents has been working hard together both on and off the pitch to make sure they give the backs go forward ball.
It took another 15 minutes before Walden scored their final try as eventually some good interplay fittingly allowed Mark Kimberley to top and tail the score with the first and last tries as Walden notched up their 13th of the game. Final Score 87 nil.
The Walden coaches and players can enjoy their much needed Xmas break sitting top of the table with half the season played.
But some hard graft is needed to succeed in the second half of the season as Walden are now the team to beat. This all starts with the tough trip to Ipswich on the 9th January a side who are starting to win games and show the strengths expected of them at the beginning of the season.
