Heavy Defeat at Home as Walden Run out of Steam

Ona fine and bright afternoon Walden suffered a heavy defeat to league leaders Chingford.
The first half was similar to last weeks game in that although Chingford were mostly on the attack some good defence by Walden held them out for long periods of the game.
The visitors scored an early try and Walden took three points when Chingford infringed at the lineout. Two further tries by Chingford kept the scoreboard ticking over in their favour and they scored the bonus point try with the last play of the half leaving the score at 3 - 22 at the interval.
For the first 10 minutes of the second half Walden held Chingford out but sustained pressure finally told and scoring opportunities started to flow. They took advantage of a tiring Walden defence by scoring 6 times in the last 30 mins.
Walden did manage to score when mid way through the half Paul Marshall who had switched to the left wing after starting at Scrum Half received a long kick just inside Walden half and ran forward. He chipped over the covering defence and regathered the ball with only the fullback to beat he found falnker Ben Stapleton on his shoulder and popped the ball to him who sprinted over in the corner despite being ackled as he put the ball down.
Final score was 60 - 8 and can only be summed up a difficult day at the office.
Postives were the set piece as both scrums and lineouts worked well. Man of the match went again to Fullback Tom Price.
