10 different try Scorers shows all round ability within the squad.

On a fine afternoon Walden sponsored by Ridgeons hosted local rivals Cantabs and proceeded to put on a great display of running rugby.
It took 5 minutes for Walden to open the scoring after a forcing Cantabs to concede a penalty 5 metres out, some quick thinking by Scrum-half Keegon Diggons taking a quick tap to dive over before the visitors had time to react.
However Cantabs levelled the score at 5 each when they in turn took a quick penalty 25 metres out and exploited an overlap to score in the corner.
Then Walden hit their stride and kept the score board ticking over with two quick tries by 2nd Row Brad Baker, then a break by left winger Ollie Webber putting flanker Ben Stapleton through. A penalty in front of the posts for offside increased the score to 22 – 5.
Cantabs got their second try mid way through the half to keep them in the game 22- 10.
But Walden continued scoring with 3 more tries before half time, first by Webber after a fine break by No8 Matt Holden, the second when centre Adam Miles went on a mazy run and the sixth try of the half by right winger Oscar Norman. Half Time 43 – 10.
It took 10 minutes before Captain Mark Kimberley got the first try of the second half when he scored in the corner and then mid way through the half he showed his soccer skills to fly hack the ball over the try line under the posts for his second.
This opened the flood gates as the visitors tired and a further 4 tries in quick succession, 2nd Row Charlie Potter barging over from 5 yards, flyhalf Tom Price catching a clearance kick on half way to jink past a couple of defenders, fending off a couple more to dive over the line, a break by Stapleton set up fellow flanker Will McGinn and finally Stapleton finished a lovely move with backs and forwards combining to take the score out to 81 – 10.
To their credit Cantabs did not let their heads drop and scored their third try on the last play of the game to leave the final score at 81 – 17.
A great all round performance with the Greene King man of the match award going to Adam Miles, the team will know they have to work hard before next weeks first away game at Wanstead. Competition for places will be hotly contested as several players look like returning from short term injuries not only bolstering the first team squad but also adding depth of numbers to the Saxons.
Next Saturday, Walden Firsts travel to Wanstead and the Saxons are at home to Ely 2's both matches starting at 3pm.

We are always on the look out for new players to play either in the first team in London 2NE or the Saxons (2nd team) in Eastern Counties 1West, if you are interested in joining our friendly club please contact either info@swrfc.co.uk or graham.marshall2@ntlworld.com
