5 tries in the second half delight the large crowd.

Walden played host to old rivals Enfield in fine but blusterer conditions with good support after a well attended VP's lunch.
Throughout the first half the teams virtually cancelled each other out with the only scores being a penalty apiece as first Enfield took the lead when Walden strayed offside after 10 mins and 5 mins later Walden levelled when an Enfield player was sin binned for deliberately coming round the edge of the ruck and killing the ball. Even with the man advantage Walden despite a lengthy spell camped inside the visitors 22 could not add any further points.
The team listened intently to the half time team talk and what a difference it seemed to make. They came out with a purpose and structure that was so lacking in the first half. It did not take long for the first try to come and it was a stunning bit of wing play by Ben Nash making his home debut in the first team, he received the ball on the half way line with not much space to work in but shrugged off two tackles and then accelerated away and stepped the full back to score wide out. 8 -3 45 mins.
It was all Walden for the next 20 mins as they played an exciting brand of rugby with backs and forwards combining and fittingly it was flanker Tom Pryke who scored next as he found himself in the attacking line and went through a gap to score close to the posts for a converted try. 15 -3 50 mins.
Walden kept up the relentless pressure on the visitors and it was only 3 mins later that after a great break by No8 Nik Baker that drove deep towards the line and to set up a couple of phases for hooker Kato Nganeko to burst through to score another converted try 22- 3.
Then a few minutes later Ben Nash made another break and this time as he got towards the line he off loaded to full back Tom Price who gratefully caught the ball to go over in the corner unopposed for the Bonus point try 27 -3 after an hour.
Enfield then managed to regroup and kicked into the corner and set up a driving maul and Walden were forced into conceding a penalty and were down to 14 men for 10 mins. Enfield took advantage of this and from a five metre line out they set up a pre planned move and passed the ball out to a prop who barged over the line to narrow the gap to 27-10 after 65 mins.
Any hope of a comeback was quickly dispelled as Walden put pressure on the visitors straight from the kick off and as they tried to clear their lines centre Harry Beddows charged down the kick and ball went loose and he scooped it up to run in from 25 mtres to extend the lead 32 -10.
No further scores in the remainder of the match, Enfield never gave up, but some well organised and determined defence kept the visitors out and Walden finished the game as deserved winners with a superb second half display.
Next week they travel to Chelmsford and will need to raise their game to another level to compete in what is always a difficult encounter on a pitch that always favours the home team.
