4. Code of Conduct


YOUNG PLAYERS’ CODE OF CONDUCT

As a registered Player of Saltdean United, the following will be expected of you:

• Participate as a team member - encourage and support your team mates at practice and in games.
• Agree to regularly attend practice and, if for some reason you are unavailable to play or train, give as much notice as possible.
• Endeavour to try your best and conduct yourself in an appropriate manner at all times.
• Play fairly within the Laws Of The Game and in the Spirit of The Game
• Listen and respond to Managers, Assistants, Coaches and all Club representatives.
• Respect kit and all equipment (footballs, goalposts, training aids) etc.
• Respect all Match Officials (accepting their decision as final) and representatives of other teams.
• Note that team selection will be intended to ensure equal opportunity for development.
• Understand that the coach has to do what is best for the team, not only for one individual
• Agree and adhere to our Club’s Code of Conduct.
• Speak to someone you trust or the Club’s Welfare Officer if you are unhappy about anything at the Club.

I understand that if I do not follow this code any or all of the following actions may be taken by the Club, County Football Association or The Football Association:

I MAY:
• Be required to apologise to teammates, the other team, the referee or team coach
• Be substituted or dropped from playing in games
• Be suspended from practice
• Be required to leave the Club

IN ADDITION:
• The Club, County FA or The FA may make my parent or carer aware of my conduct
• The County FA / The FA may impose a fine or suspension against my Club

I agree to adhere to and abide by the Club’s policy and to always act in the spirit of this Code and in the best interests of the Club.

COACHES/MANAGERS CODE OF CONDUCT

As a Coach / Manager / Helper of Saltdean United, the following will be expected of you:

• Act as a role model, at all times and set a positive example.
• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others involved in the sport including match officials, opposition players, coaches/managers, officials and spectators.
• Place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including winning.
• Adhere to the Laws and Spirit Of The Game.
• Promote fair play and high standards of behaviour.
• Respect decisions made by match officials.
• Never enter the field of play without the referee’s permission.
• Be gracious in victory or defeat.
• Develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect.
• Encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.
• Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour including any form of bullying.
• Ensure that the activities you direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the players.
• Co-operate fully with other specialists (e.g. other coaches, officials, sports scientists, doctors, physiotherapists) in the best interest of the player.
• Regularly attend Club meetings, when necessary, to discuss and promote Club policies.
• Agree and adhere to our Club’s Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy.
• Observe, actively promote and adhere to the Club’s Vision, Coaching Philosophy and Game Style

I understand that if I do not follow the Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club, County FA or The Football Association:

I MAY BE:
• Required to meet with the club, league or County Welfare Officer
• Suspended by the club from attending matches
• Suspended or fined by the County FA
• Required to leave or be dismissed by the club.

IN ADDITION:
• My FA Coaching Licence may be withdrawn.
I agree to adhere to and abide by the Club’s policy and to always act in the spirit of this Code and in the best interests of the Club.

PARENTS / CARERS / SPECTATORS CODE OF CONDUCT

Parents/carers / spectators have a great influence on children’s enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because first and foremost it’s fun.

Please help to provide a positive environment in which children can learn and enjoy the game, have a sense of personal achievement, self-esteem and improvement in their skills and techniques.
Parents/Carers / Spectators within our Club are expected to:

• Always be positive and encouraging, towards all the children. Applaud good play by either team.
• Avoid coaching children during the game.
• Remain behind the Respect barrier or line of cones in the designated spectator area.
• Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour.
• Respect the decisions of the referee, managers and coaches as final and made with the best of intentions.
• Encourage players to respect the opponents and match officials.
• Support positively and offer players encouragement, not criticism.
• Agree and adhere to our Club’s Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy.
• Provide up to ten hours of help across the season to help events or tournaments.
• Read, understand and support the Club’s Vision, Coaching Philosophy and Game Style, especially as it applies to the development of youth players

I understand that if I do not follow the Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken:

I MAY BE:

• Issued with a verbal warning from a club or league official
• Required to meet with the club, league or CFA Welfare Officer
• Required to meet with the club committee
• Obliged to undertake an FA education course
• Obliged to leave the match venue by the club
• Requested by the club not to attend future games
• Suspended or have my club membership removed
• Required to leave the club along with any dependents.

IN ADDITION:

• The FA/County FA could impose a fine and/or suspension on the club.
