About our club...

We are a non profit making, volunteer run junior football club.

We run teams in our local junior football leagues from U7s to U18s.

We do not offer holiday clubs, after school clubs or academies.

The club was founded as Shipley Juniors in 1991 with a group of local parents getting together to provide somewhere for their children to play organised football.

In the first year the club attracted around 15 players and in the 26 years it has been running it has grown rapidly to currently having membership of over 550 members. This includes approximately 80 adult players.

Salts FC seniors have an 80 year history from the days when they were financed and managed by Salts Mill owner Sir Titus Salt.

This season 2022-23 the club will be running –

4 – 5 -a- side teams
9 – 7-a-side teams
9 – 9-a-side teams
8 - 11-a-side teams
3 – Saturday mens teams
1 – Sunday mens team
1 – Disabled football section

The club has also an Under 6’s section with the emphasis being on fun and trying to teach the players the basics.

The club is a ‘club for life’ meaning players can start at 5 years old and play right through the juniors and step straight into the senior football.

The club became one of the first F.A Chartermark clubs in the district receiving the award in December 2001 following a lot of hard work to put together all the policies to comply with the criteria.

The clubs next step was to gain ‘F.A Charter Development Club’ in 2003 and it achieved this in July 2003.

We have now attained F.A Chartered Community Club status, which we achieved in 2009 and makes us one of the few clubs in the district to have this award.

In 2007/2008 Shipley juniors were very proud to be awarded the Development Club of the year awarded by the West Riding County FA, recognition that we felt we deserved.

In season 2010 / 2011 we were awarded the WRCFA ‘Outstanding Contribution to Community Football’ award.

In season 2012/2013 we were awarded the WRCFA and North of England Community club of the year.

The club also offers and encourages new managers and coaches the chance to attend the ‘F.A Level 1′ course as soon as possible and then the Level 2.

The club currently has –

64 – FA Level 1 coaches
6 – FA Level 2 coaches.
3 – FA Level 3 Youth Module 1 coaches
1 – FA Level 3 Youth Module 2 coach
5 – FA Adult Level 1 coaches

We also try to send coaches on other courses and coaching demos and full details can be viewed in the ‘our coaches’ section of website.

Our coaches are required to become DBS checked in line with child protection policies.
