6. Clubhouse 2 & 3

What do you remember about the next clubhouse?

Without John Buckingham and Eddy Perfect I don’t think Club House 2 could have come to fruition, and just where the Hurricanes Rugby Football Club would be today, without Graham Thomas, Alan & Joy Whitehouse and their team makes one shudder to think.

The’ Hoolies’ have all to a man in our time, in our own way given our best to the club.
It makes one feel humble to have been a small part of the beginning of where it has grown to today.

Lottery Funding for New Clubhouse

Back in the late 90's the club applied for lottery funding to help build the current clubhouse. The business plan and application, prepared by former member Paul Barrell, was successful and the Hurricanes were granted £474,000 towards the build project.
With a shortfall still in excess of £80,000 the club set about raising the extra funds needed and doing as much of the work they could themselves through the help of the members.

First on the list was to clear and prepare the site ready for the builders to start work. After a lot of hard work the overgrown plot was ready and several months later the club were the proud owners of the building we all enjoy today.
