Six dedicated Hurricanes recognised for their volunteer efforts at the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year - Hampshire

It was a night for the Clubs from the island on Friday 28th June, as Clubs across Hampshire celebrated and recognised the efforts of their dedicated volunteers from the previous season.

Sandown & Shanklin were represented by Victoria Winter, John & Elizabeth Gilfillan, Simon & Lorraine Swallow, and Sam Flux, as they were all nominated for their hard work throughout the season and beyond.

Congratulations to Isle of Wight RFC's Ollie Boulter who picked up the main Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer award for Hampshire, and will be representing the island and the county at Twickenham at the National awards in September.
The island's women's rugby team, The Wight Wolves, were also nominated for volunteer recognition, with Vicky Paris recognised for all her hard work in organising all the administration work for the team!

Then the final three Hampshire county awards, two were swept up by the Hurricanes! First, the Unsung Hero award, was deservedly received by John & Elizabeth Gilfillan, who tirelessly work week in, week out to clean the Clubhouse, support the teams and provide food to the Vectis teams on match days. Then finally the Administrator of the year award, was presented to 1st XV Captain Sam Flux, in recognition of his work toward the Club receiving its accreditation, representing the Club at Island Cluster Meetings and at Couty meetings, alongside many of the other tasks he manages.

A great evening for Island Clubs, as three of the four main awards were awarded to delegates from the Isle of Wight - long may it continue!
