On Thursday 27th June, Sandown & Shanklin RFC will be represented at the House of Commons, where they have been selected as a finalist in the Rugby Club Category.
The Hospitality Social Media Awards (HSMA) were launched to encourage and applaud this and celebrate the very best in social media within hospitality companies. They recognise the companies who are using social media to communicate in fresh and innovative ways and to build a business with customers and potential customers.
The nomination comes as a highly respected accolade for the club, who have used social media to great effect over the past two seasons. Firstly campaigns on platforms has been a great tool in player and also volunteer recruitment. Seeing as three years ago, the Club was struggling for playing numbers, social media has introduced no less than nine new players to the 1st and 2nd teams.
Conversely, the activity has also attracted new supporters, members, and volunteers, providing an excellent source of new blood into the Club.
Secondly, the Club's presence on social media, has created a great shop window for selling the Clubhouse as a very popular venue, especially for Weddings and birthdays in recent months. This obviously becomes a little more complicated during the season, however, due to the excellent work of diary manager, Victoria Winter, events have gone off without a hitch. As more and more people become aware of what unique and effective space the Clubhouse has to offer.
Fingers crossed that come 3.30pm Thursday afternoon, the Club picks up another award. But rest assured the hard work being put into the Clubs communications will continue long into the next few seasons...
