After a week off, and the return of the Six Nations rugby to pass the time, the Hurricanes are back in action this weekend against Farnborough RFC.
The past Saturday was not a week off for the visitors, as the side that find themselves bottom of the league took on promotion hopefuls Fordingbridge. Farnborough had done themselves and the Hurricanes a favour, by defeating the New Forest outfit, in a narrow 26 - 25 victory. There is no denying that Farnborough will travel to the island with belief and momentum, to attempt to keep the winning ways going.
The Hurricanes, will look to extend their own winning streak to five games, in their attempt to chase down the league leaders. After denting Petersfield's automatic promotion hopes two weeks ago, they become the immediate target for the Hurricanes to hunt down, and with a game in hand over the rivals - there is everything to play for in the coming weeks.
The home side are resigned to be without Captain Sam Rees, who is still attempting to recover from a back injury sustained against Petersfield. Also still missing is Ryan Carey, as Ryan is he still nursing an ankle injury which he picked up at the beginning of January against Romsey. Finally, the inform Sam Tyson misses the fixture, as he is away.
Captain Sam Rees spoke ahead of the game this weekend:
'Everyone is pulling together at the Club to provide the best environment and atmosphere possible to maintain the run of form. Farnborough have always been a tough fixture, as they bring a lot of physicality to the game in their style of play. Nonetheless, I have full faith in our lads to stop Farnborough from building any momentum in the game and achieve the result we desire. It won't be easy be, but with the character, desire and sheer determination and graft from the boys, it should be a good afternoon down at the Fairway/'
Don't forget following the games on Saturday, we will be playing the Six Nations game, between Wales and England live in the Clubhouse. All are welcome to come and show their support to one of the sides!
