Athough Sandown opened the scoring for the first time this season, the end result was more of the same for the Hurricanes, with defeat.
The pattern this season for the Hurries has been playing catch-up rugby after the opening five minutes or sohaving conceded a soft try. On this occasion, Sandown opened brightly against Old Blues, with Gavin Bodrell kicking them into an early lead.
However, Hurricanes failed to take a number of good opportunities to extend their lead allowing Old Blues to regain confidence. The visitors scored a couple of soft tries from what were encouraging attacking play Sandown, both well converted from out wide, and their kicker also slotted a penalty in between.
Sandown, not for thye first time this season, produced the best quality move of the game with the ball passing through many hands before Andy Gough scored under the posts.
If only the Hurricanes could produce this quality more often during their matches they would soon get back on the winning trail.
