A strong Sandown side travelled to Portsmouth on Saturday and subjected a rather shell shocked home side to a long afternoon.
The Hurries played some superb flowing rugby with the forwards continually winning good ball. The distribution from acting skipper Michael Cooper was superb to Ross Edmunds who released the pacey Sandown backs all afternoon.
There were first half tries from Matt Jones (2), Tommy Monks (2), John Miselback, Josh Wetherick (2), Michael Barrett and Alex Hiscocks.
The second half was more of the same with the experienced Al Morey (2), centre Matt Jones and wing Josh Wetherick who both capped off superb performances with hat-tricks. Tom Borer and Steve Routledge also added to the try count along with young second row Chris Perfect who has now scored on his last three appearances.
The scoring was finished off with Michael Cooper and then Cooper again after a superb solo break feeding the veteran full back Nick Heelan who only had to fall over the line to finish off the scoring.
A superb performance on the day but the two stand out performances were from the returning John Miselback and Tom Monks who carved holes in the home side’s defence time and time again and finished with a personal tally of 26 points.
