The Sandown & Shanklin 2nd XV are on a mini-roll as of later. Three impressive wins on the bounce, with the latest victory coming in a local derby game against Ventnor RFC 2nd XV, eventually winning 10 - 48.
In those three games, the team has amassed just shy 150 points, with 147 accrued in their favour. Whilst only conceding 36 points over the same period. One reason for such a points balance, has been the impressive form of young Hurricane Rob Newton Jnr, scoring two hat-tricks and seven tries in total during this period, he has also shown impressive defensive skills for such a young man in the midfield. Another stand out has been the form of flanker Dan Sayers, who has been ever-present for the side this season. Whilst Sayers has been equally impressive scoring form over the season, his defensive work rate and tackling has really seen him shine as of late.
Unfortunately this weekend the 2nd XV will be without the services of young Newton, and also number 8, Greg Dean. However, this will more than likely present an opportunity for someone else to put their hand up and play another impressive game for the 2nd XV.
The Clubhouse will be open from 1.30pm this Saturday, with a 2.30pm kick off. All are welcome to come down to the Fairway ground, to cheer on the next generation of Hurricane players that are coming through, and to help continue their great form of late.
