The game started well for the visitors as they battered away at the home side, but it was the home side who scored first with a well worked try through the forwards.

The Hurries hit back as skipper Michael Cooper off loaded to Edmonston and then Routledge releasing full back Tom Monks and there was no catching him as he touched down.

There were no further scores in the first half but both sides went close on a number of occasions, half time 5-5.

The second half started poorly for the Hurries as the Andover forwards again created a good opportunity that they didn’t waste. This woke Sandown up and they scored three tries in quick succession through first skipper Michael Cooper who took the ball from Josh Wetherick and then when Al Morey ran a superb line from inside centre he crashed through leaving a trail of would be tacklers in his wake to touch down.

Then after good work from forwards Simon Maine, WIGHTLINK man-of-the-match Michael Barrett and the strong running BJ MEATS man-of-the-match Dave Wolfenden, debutant Josh Robinson received the ball on the wing and he side stepped a couple of tacklers and sprinted away for his first try in senior rugby.

This made the scores 24-10 with ten minutes to go. Andover rallied and put pressure on the Sandown line but their defence held firm until the last play of the game the referee awarded a penalty try for the home side to make the final score 24-15 to the Hurries.
