Sandown continued their fine start to the season with an emphatic win against Southampton on Saturday. Hurries were missing Greg Dean and Nick Heelan for the game but they welcomed back John Missleback and veteran Andy Fletcher.
The Hurries hit Southampton right from the start and kept the score board ticking over continuously through the game. Scorers on the day were WIGHTLINK man-of-the-match Dave Steele who scored three superb tries. The best of his scores coming as he followed Michael Cooper on a break and as Cooper took the tackle he popped the ball up to Steele who side stepped the covering defence and then sprinted in from thirty five metres to touch down.
Other scorers were BJ MEATS man-of-the-match Josh Wetherick (3), Tom Monks (2) Ben Barlow, Martin Keyworth, Tom Borrer and Michael Barrett.
Southampton battled hard but were out played on the day by a confident Sandown side who now travel to unbeaten Winchester next Saturday where they will try and keep their good early season form going.
