Emphatic victory for 2s

On a heavy pitch on Saturday Sandown 2nds continued their fine run with an emphatic victory over Southampton’s second team. The visitors set about their task right from the off and played some good rugby in difficult conditions.

First half tries came from Greg Dean, Sam Tyson, Arthur Buxton, Joel Carey and James London. The second half was much the same with WIGHTLINK man-of-the-match Sam Tyson completing a well taken hatrick.

BJ MEATS man-of-the-match Michael Barrett and Michael Cooper completed the scoring with two tries. Edmonston added an extra twelve points with the boot to take the final score to 7-62 to the travelling Hurricanes.

This victory keeps skipper Martin McLaughlin’s side on course for a second place finish. The Hurries now have two difficult fixtures coming up over the next few weeks, one at home against champions elect Winchester and a trip to a strong Eastleigh side that inflicted a 9-6 defeat on Sandown at the Fairway earlier in the season.
