GT's Hurries sign off in style

Hurries entertained touring side Belgrave RFC from Leicester on Saturday who play in the Midlands North Two league.

The Hurries fielded a 'Graham Thomas XV' as Club President Graham, is stepping down from his coaching role within the club. He has been with the club as a player and a coach for 31 years.

Hurries played in the same positive spirit, as they had in the final weeks of their league survival, with fine exhibition rugby to entertain the large crowd as the sun broke through. Very competitive end to end stuff, with the Hurries finally running out 45-13 winners.

The 'icing on the cake' came when everyone returned for the post match celebrations. The SWALEC cup final was on the television. Ben Allman, who was a regular for the Hurries at Hooker, left mid-season to take up employment in Wales, and registered for a local rugby club. There he was on the TV playing in the Cup Final for Rhydyfelin RFC. Every time he touched the ball the Hurries clubhouse roof was lifted. They lost the game 20-19 but all in all a good afternoon.
