Sands United midfield tough man Luke Bryans talks about his losses, and his memories of Freddie.

" In October 2010 me and my Wife Paula found out we were going to be parents. I had always wanted to have children so I was over the moon when Paula took me for a drink and popped the positive pregnancy test on the table with a big grin on her face.
Fast forward 20 weeks and we found out we were having a boy. We decided to call him Freddie as soon as we found out.
The pregnancy went really well and the Midwife etc seemed really happy with Freddie’s growth.
At 34 weeks Paula said she hadn’t felt much movement so we went into the hospital. They checked Paula over briefly but said it was nothing to worry about so we continued preparing for the arrival of our little boy.
On Freddie’s due date June 2nd, Paula went for a routine Midwife appointment whilst I was at work over an hour away. Paula was told to pop to the hospital as the Doppler wasn’t picking up a heartbeat but she was told not to worry too much.
Paula drove to the hospital on her own where she was greeted by various medical professionals including one lady that we later discovered was a bereavement Midwife called Jane.
It was then that our hearts were torn apart forever. Paula was told that our precious boy had died.
We were told to “go home and try and get some sleep” and come back two days later so that Paula could be induced.
On June 4th 2011 Freddie Bryans was born, he was 5lb3oz and absolutely perfect.
We still to this day don’t know why Freddie died.
Since loosing Freddie Paula went on to have our little girl who is now 6, she often asks about her big Brother. After 6 years of trying for another baby and 8 miscarriages, we had another gorgeous boy Reggie on 29th May 2018."
