Scarborough's Winning Run Comes To An End

They’re where 3 home ties scheduled over the course of the weekend. 1st up on where Scarborough 2nd vs Leeds 8th who where looking to make it 3 consecutive wins on the spin.

In a tight 1st half chances where few between as both defensive’s where on top when Leeds managed to carve chances out Euan Harker pulled of a number of fine saves in goal. The break through came through Jay Meatheringham who kept up his fantastic scoring record by making it 4 goals in 4 matches after a fantastic team goal. This was by excellent build up play outside the d, Jay Meatheringham successfully lost his player and connected with the ball from the left post. Nicholas Thompson & Josh Kirk produced explosive runs from midfield, which caused Leeds defense issues. Within the latter stages of the 1st half Leeds had numerous opportunities to draw level, they where unable to convert their chances as there strikers dragged the shots wide.

After a positive half time interval discussion by Scarborough Captain Rob Wilcockson, Scarborough started where they left of by pinning the away side in there half. Joe Cook & Jay Meatheringham where displaying great link up play & using their pace upfront efficiently to bypass the defense. Against the run of play Leeds’s equalizer came through a quick break away as Scarborough went in search of a 2nd. The counter attack resulted in a 1-1 situation where their striker calmly slotted the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs. With the game becoming stretched Leeds went in front through pressuring Scarborough’s defensive shape. This resulted in a clearance falling to their striker who reified the ball in from close range. The match ended 1-2 to Leeds, Scarborough 2nd will take plenty of positives from todays match a will look to get to winning ways in their next match against Airedale 3rd
