Scole travelled just up the A140 for a local derby with South Norfolk rivals Long Stratton last weekend.
The only changes came with Lawrence Brown taking Alex Gardiner's place in midfield who in turn replaced Jimmy Dunkinson on the bench and Ewan Chamberlain replaced Callum Simmons on the bench as well.
Scole got off to a bad start when after just 3 minutes they failed to deal with a long throw into their penalty box and the flick on wasn't properly cleared at the back post and Stratton scored from close range. Scole tried to rally and Jake Mcdowall had his shot come cross deflected onto the bar just 2 minutes later but that set the tone of the game. Things weren't helped when midfielder Ash Baxter had to come off after quarter of an hour with an injury. Scole hit the bar again when Aiden Way in the Stratton goal pushed away a Dave Coleman screamer. Brown had a goalbound shot deflected away for a corner but that was about as good as it got for the away side in a very poor opening half. Stratton got a second just before half-time to increase their advantage highlighting their seemingly bigger appetite for the fight.
Following a big talking to at half time Scole briefly rallied in the second half but that didn't stop Stratton getting a third on 55 minutes. Lawrence Brown did pull one back finishing off a Tom Gardiner corner and McDowall almost got a second when he broke clear of the keeper but slipped as he struck the ball goalwards and scuffed his shot . Stratton got a fourth and killed it off on 75 minutes following a dubious challenge on centre half Reece Lanchester that even the local support admitted should have been a foul. Scole mustered a couple more chances before the end as Ben Norton-Hugman had a shot clawed off the line after a great last ditch tackle on McDowall by Nicholls and Brad Hunt had a good effort deflected onto the bar after it struck the referee.
A better show in the second half but Scole cannot afford to many performances like they had in the first half . Long Stratton deserved the win overall and Scole will definitely need a drastic improvement next week when they face UEA at Ransome Ave. 14:00 ko.
