Comfortable Scone

Errol were the visitors at a sunny Scone park this morning for Scone's 6th league game of the season. The home team were looking for their fifth straight victory.

Errol started the brightest of the two teams and forced an early corner but didn't really create anything.

It took Scone until the fifth minute to get forward and the ball fell to midfielder Scott Peebles who drove the ball towards goal from 25 yards only to see his shot hit the underside of the bar and bounce clear.

Scone were to open the scoring a few minutes later with Euan Anderson picking the ball up outside the box after a poor clearance from the opposition keeper. He done really well to strike the ball over him and give Scone the lead.

Scone doubled their lead shortly afterwards, a corner was swung in from the right and with the ball bobbling about in the area, Ben Mackay's left foot shot from six yards out found the net.

Errol were to get back into the game on the 18th minute, too much space given in the midfield and one pass through the defence was finished well by the Errol striker.

Scone dominated most of the ball in the final 15minutes of the first half and were to go further ahead. Euan Anderson chased a long ball forward from Jay Gardner and was brought down in the box with a penalty awarded. He stepped up and hit a brilliant penalty into the bottom right corner.

Half time Scone 3-1 Errol

Scone started the second half determined to improve on their first half showing and immediately went 4-1 up. Jack Gall got forward well on the right finding Jay Gardner inside the box who produced a great shot to score his first goal of the season.

Scone created some more really good chances with Jay Gardner, Kieran Hodge and Ben Mackay all going close.

In the 55th minute midfielder Ben Harris scored his fifth goal of the season with a header from close range after Jack Gall done well to get a shot away inside the box.

Scone made several changes throughout the half to give players who haven't played recently some more game time.

Errol were to score again a few minutes before the end. A ball over the top caught Scone's defence sleeping and the Errol striker got his second.

A convincing and comfortable morning of football though for Scone. The boys created lots of goalscoring opportunities second half and should have won by a bigger margin.

15 points from the first 6 games, joint top of the league, what a fantastic start to the season.
