Great end to the Season

Selby Festival was our last fixture of our Under 10's season and we were pleased to see so many of the team. We managed to submit two teams and they were split as follows:

Team 1 Beinn Roberts, Billy-Rae Sowerby, Bradley Clayton, Declan Dunk, George Atkinson, Harrison Donskoy, Janek Syznal, Josh Walker and Thomas Giles.

Team 2 Alex Davey-White, Dan Pooley, Dylan Penn, Liam Barrett, Owen Fell, Preston Croft, Thomas Batley and Zoheeb Kazmi.

Each team played 4 games. Team 1's first game was against the hosts Selby where Scunthorpe won convincingly 9-0 with tries coming from Bradley Clayton, George Atkinson (3) and Thomas Giles (5) - great team effort. The second game was again West Park Leeds who we haven't played for a while. At half time, Scunthorpe were 3-1 up and although West Park Leeds came back, Scunthorpe managed to hold on and the final score was Scunthorpe 4 - West Park Leeds 2 with tries coming from Bradley Clayton, George Atkinson and Thomas Giles (2). The third game was more closely matched with the final score being Scunthorpe 3 - Goole 2 with Thomas Giles scoring all 3 of the tries. The final game was against our old rivals Old Brodleians who were a thorn in our otherwise winning run. The final score was Scunthorpe 1 - Old Brods 6 with Scunthorpe's only try coming from Thomas Giles.

Team 2's first games was against Pockington, an unknown quantity. The final score was Scunthorpe 4 - Pockington 1 with some excellent tackling from Liam Barrett and Thomas Batley and tries from Liam Barrett and Dan Pooley (3). The second game was against a mixed team consisting of some West Park Leeds players and some Selby players. This was a very closely contested game which was shown in the final result of Scunthorpe 0 - WP/Selby 1. There was some great tackles from Dan Pooley, Laim Barrett, Preston Croft and Thomas Batley which helped keep the score low. The third game was against our friends from across the water at Hull Ionians. They were a strong team and although the whole team made some excellent tackles, we couldn't keep them out. The final score was Scunthorpe 2 - Hull Ionians 5. The final game was against the other Old Brods team - final score was Scunthorpe 2 - Old Brods 4.

The final game tally was won 4 - lost 4 but that it doesn't show how well the lads played.

To everyone involved - parents/grandparents/siblings/carers/aunts/uncles/ whoever but most of all the kids themselves - THANKS, it's been a wonderful season - enjoy the break - but bring on September!!!!!
