Scunthorpe U8's travelled to Market Rasen to play against Stamford and Market Rasen, all having 2 teams so turning the morning into a mini tournament.

Scunthorpe U8 Vets
Scunthorpe Vets were off to an excellent start getting straight into the lead with Conroy opening the scoring with 2 quick try's. This quickly followed by Market Rasen equalising to give a half time score of 2 tries each.. Scunthorpe fought back in the second half with C Brewster , Williams and Murr netting a try a piece to give a 5-2 win for the first match.
Second match against Stamford A had Murr land a hat trick in the first half along with a score by Warburton. The second half saw Stamford fight back but only managing 2 scores due to excellent defending by the Vets with further scores made by Murr and 2 more from Conroy resulting in a 7-2 win.
The final Vets match against Stamford B was won with scores from Murr, C Brewster, Hellewell, Warburton and a couple of quick scores by Barrett. Final score ending 6-2.
The Scunthorpe vets again showed after the Christmas break they have not lost any skills and continued their winning form with some great teamwork efforts.
Scunthorpe U8 Newbies
Scunthorpe Newbies were no match for a strong Market Rasen A Team whose quick pace took them beyond the greens defence breaking through with somewhat ease at times. When the greens concentrated the defence held but for momentary lapses. There were 2 great scores by Dawson but the Newbies finished the game losing 5-2 .
Their match against Market Rasen B team did not go to plan but although the lads put in a good team effort they could not cross the line and eventually went down 5-0.
The match against Stamford B was a tough game where both defences played well but the Newbies could not get across the line again and finished losing 3-0.
Good efforts made by Newbies Bradwell and Dawson keeping the opposition on their toes.
It was generally a good day for the greens at Market Rasen and the player of the day trophy went to B Howden who put in a good shift for the Vets.
