The first game had the vets start against a strong Goole team, with ball in hand some good passing saw the Vets advance up the pitch to only run into touch. Goole took the restart and promptly spilled the ball for the Vets to secure the ball and pass through the team for Smith to score. The kick off by Goole had speed and agility for an easy try. Scunthorpe looked rusty after the snowy break and gave the half away through some unusually silly mistakes, Warburton scored a fine try supported by the rest of the team at half time the score was 6 - 2 to Goole.
Goole's attack faltered with a now solid Green defence the 6 tag rule came into play and win the ball back, slick passing from Murr, Conroy, Warburton and eventually to Smith to score again. Goole returned with a well worked try, a mistake again by the Vets gave Goole the ball again to score. Conroy stepped a Goole player to score after receiving the ball from Williams, Goole finished the game off with a try after a Green knock on. Final score 9 - 4 to Goole a very rusty performance by the vets.
Goole kicked off the game and powered through the defence to score immediately, the Newbies knocked the ball on giving the ball back to a very quick Goole attack which scored again. Scunthorpes Newbies put up some fine attacking play but only to be tagged 6 times or to knock the ball at the stroke of half time the Newbies were 5 - 0 down.
Second half had Goole steal the ball from the Newbies on the six tag rule when they were forced back off the Goole try line which the promptly flew down the wing to score. Another try from Goole had the Newbies attack with some swift feet from A Brewster only to be tagged mere feet from the line the pass to Dawson gave opportunity for a try only to be whisked away with a foot in touch. Valiant defence from the Greens had held of the Goole attack for almost five minutes when on the last play they Scored, finishing the game 8 - 0. Some promising points especially from man of the day Morrell still plenty to work on for a fairly new team.
The Vets started the game with a charging run from C Brewster who passed the ball to a moving Conroy to score the first try of the game. Goole attack knocked the ball forward Murr took up the mantle to press forward with a fine run but dropped the ball over the line, the opposition pick up the ball to score. Murr again stormed forward only to be stopped short with a quick pass to Cross gave him chance to take his man on and score, Goole returned the favour with a well received long pass. A much tighter game had the half time scores all level at 2 all.
The long pass worked again for Goole releasing their fast man down the wing to score, Warburton drove for the line and popped off to a supporting C Brewster to score. Goole attacked through the heart of the Vets defence to score, Conroy took on the ball and with a jinxing run he made it through the defence to score. A simple dummy is all it took to divide the Vets defence and let in a try from the kick off Murr again drove forward in his usual manor to release C Brewster to score the final try of the game. Final score 5 - 5 a much better performance with still lots to work on, the pass and catching is the first. The Greens showed glimpses of previous good points and definitely improved as the games went on.
