Selston FC has today received confirmation that the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) has approved their bid, made jointly with Selston Parish Council, for funding for floodlights for the Parish Ground. This significant amount, when added to the Parish Council’s generous offer, and match funding from the club means that the total project cost is now in place.
Planning on installation can now begin, with the aim that the lights will be operational mid September, inside the timeline set by the East Midlands Counties League.
Chairman Mark Wilson said “I’m absolutely delighted that our bid has been approved, it just goes to show that hard work and persistence pays off. This is a brilliant illustration of what working in partnership can achieve – the Parish Council have been great allies and both organisations ought to be proud that they’re improving the facilities for the people of the local area.
I’m looking forward to that first game under the lights, hopefully early this Autumn! It’s another part of paying back the ambition and achievements of our adult set up. I am clear though that everything we do is for the benefit of the club as a whole, this will improve our profile, will hopefully attract more funding which will go back into the ground, kit and equipment for all Selston FC teams.”
