Lose to Blue Marlin's in Semifinal Plate

Thanks to Alan Jope, we managed to bring a couple of Scots to the team (Phil Childs and Brien Doyle) and also Andy Galley joined us for the afternoon. Sadly Nick injured himself yesterday so could not play. Chris and David (me) dutifully turned up for day 2!

With our young students Alex and Gus, we had a formidable team for the plate, but at the same time were extremely reliant on these two staying injury free!

We were drawn against the Blue Marlins, who we beat yesterday 5-3. We had two legs to play, one home and one away leg. We started brightly in our home leg against the Marlins with Alan in goal, and our outfield looking very much in control. Within a few minutes Gus opened the scoring, which was quickly followed by Alex and as the game was closing out the Marlins scored a vital "away" goal.

For the Away leg, we felt very confident, and as long as we did not concede we would go through. 15 mins into the game the Marlins scored, and with that our star player Alex hurt his hamstring. Still lacking any depth with our squad, we had no equivalent player to match ALex's unique skills, and very quickly succumbed to two more goals both deflected past Alan.

So in the end we went out to a team who we had beaten two out of three times, but certainly did not embarrass ourselves.
