Young Sharks side narrowly defeated.

A gutsy young sharpness team fell short against a strong Frampton side in the semi-finals of the GFA county cup. With a prize of a place in the final against relegation-threatened Dursley, both teams looked to dominate from the off.

Some sharp attacking play saw an out-stretched Hawes hitting the side-netting, whilst sharp reflexes by Marklove kept the scores level.
However after half an hour a quick Frampton attack led to a collision between keeper and striker, the referee agreeing with the latter's claims for a penalty, which was coolly dispatched. The Sharks though bounced back almost immediately. Tim Thomas clinically finishing within the box after some good build-up play. An exciting first half ended with Frampton back in front; good wing play resulted in a ball flashed across the box met by an unstoppable header from 10 yards out.

Although the second half lacked more goals, it did not lack passion or chances for either side. sharks largely dominated possession and substitutes Brad Hewer and Ben John ensured a continued threat. A classy run from Hawes saw his shot from the edge of the area squeeze agonisingly over the bar. Solid Frampton defending ensured the succession of corners and free-kicks came to no avail.
With the sharks piling forward a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing meant Frampton could not increase their lead. Despite their hard work, sharpness were to come up short against a side excelling in grinding out results this season.
