Sharpness extended their unbeaten run to four games with a credible draw away to Leonard Stanley on a cold and terribly bitter afternoon.

Sharpness picked up another well deserved point on the road Saturday at Leonard Stanley but left somewhat disappointed knowing they could have earned all three. Sharpness started the game brightly making good forays down both flanks and making the opposition defence work hard to keep sharpness’ attempts on goal down to minimum. However Stanley did look dangerous on the break and had a few opportunities their selves to break the deadlock but did not trouble Player/Manager James Marklove in the Sharpness Goal.
Sharpness had the lion share of possession and was starting to stamp their authority on the game with most of the chances being created down both flanks as Malshanskji and Higgs on the left along with Collard and Stutter causing the opposition problems which accumulated with Sharpness winning a lot of set pieces in dangerous areas. It was from one of these set pieces that Sharpness took the lead 5mins from half time. The sharks were rewarded a free kick midway through the Stanley half, it was delivered dangerously into the Stanley box by Paterson where Webber managed to get a good knock down for Frankham to slam home left footed.
However the lead didn’t last long and the home side were level seconds before half time when they broke from another Sharpness attacking free kick which the Sharks looked likely to score from their selves. The set piece was cleared and the Stanley player picked up the ball and raced down the left wing before cutting inside and chipping a ball into the box for the waiting centre forward. He calmly chested the ball down spun and shot on the turn which Marklove manage to parry only for an onrushing player to tap in. This resulted in a very frustrated half time team talk as the whistle for the break came seconds afterwards. Sharpness dominated the first half and should have been more clinical in the final third.
Sharpness started the second half slow and took their time to get going on a cold wintery afternoon. The second half was tightly contested with neither team carving out much until the last 20 minutes. Within seconds of Hawes being introduced for the Sharks he went on a brilliant solo run beating four opposition players before narrowly shooting wide. Another slick move in the middle of the park set Watkins through but he was unable to round the keeper to score. Sharpness were then denied again near the end when a free kick from the left was flicked on by Frankham in which Watkins slotted home only to be ruled out for offside, an occurrence which happened to many times during the game. Stanley then nearly stole the points at the end when a looped cross come shot struck the crossbar.
Overall a point was well thought of by the struggling Sharks but they knew deep down they were more than capable of gaining all three. Man of the Match was awarded to Malshanskji due to his attacking runs down the wing first half and stout defending in the second.
Special thanks must be given to all the Supporters who have attended the games this season to support the team in a struggling and difficult time especially on Saturday on a cold and bitter day.
